Behind the Plating
My project explores the significance of food in our community, highlighting its diverse cultural origins and the stories behind it. Often, we don't consider the effort and heritage involved in food preparation when dining out. Through my photography, I aim to showcase the passion and dedication behind cooking. I focus on capturing the process and human emotions involved, as well as individual moments represented by still objects. By using visual elements like color repetition, I connect my photographs to depict the chaos and hard work in the food industry. My goal is to convey the complex emotions and dedication involved in food preparation and the environments where it takes place.

Studio Lighting Project
For my studio lighting project, I chose to work with discarded objects to reflect how past relationships and hobbies have impacted me. Using vintage clocks set to December 10th—the date I lost a childhood friend—I aimed to visually represent the passage of time and shifting relationships. I also featured an eyeshadow palette from my childhood ballet days, a hobby I was pushed into and disliked. The reflection in the palette's mirror and accompanying jewelry evoke my perspective at recitals. My old ballerina shoes, marked with my name, symbolize the past and feelings of contempt. This project allowed me to explore how forgotten objects symbolize my past and present. I experimented with studio lighting, creating shadows and capturing details from various angles. Initially, I encountered issues with shadows but improved the results using LED lights and umbrellas. Overall, this process deepened my understanding of my personal history and artistic techniques.

Reel Rhythms
In my Expanded Media Arts project, I have created a unique series of videos that blends clips from our favorite movies and songs. By meticulously matching each clip with the beats and rhythms of carefully selected tracks, I've crafted a compelling visual and auditory experience that enhances the emotional resonance of both the film and music. This fusion not only celebrates the artistry of these mediums but also invites viewers to see familiar scenes in a new light.
